Urquhart Castle is in the Highlands of Scotland near Drumnadrochit close to Inverness and is a ruined castle that sits beside and overlooks Loch Ness.
As I drove from Fort William towards Inverness I stopped to have a look around at this old castle. This medieval castle dates from the 13th to 15th century but is now a shadow of its former glory from raids and thefts over the years.
Priced at £13 for an adult (price of December 2022) the castle is well worth a visit, if nothing else but to stand at the side of Loch Ness and take in the atmosphere.
