is my Weight gain because of my HRT

This is a tough one to write as I initially struggled to admit that the weight gain on HRT was the reason, I was getting fat again and blamed it on lack of exercise and good living for the few pounds I’ve gained since Christmas.

However, since Christmas my hormone dose has increased again as my Estrogen level was slightly lower than what it should have been. Due to hormone supply shortages I’ve also had to change from quick absorbing gel to slow-release patches. I actually find these to be a pain in the backside, because you stick them on your backside!

So, at Christmas I was 16 stone. Yes, I know that’s a lot already but 3 years ago I was over 22 stone!

I’ve gone up a bit to 18 stone 2 and after starving myself for the past month my weight hasn’t moved.

Its almost like my body has said “Nah, fuck you. You’re staying fat!”

And then in February my Doctors must have actually looked at the information i’ve been providing them because they called me to discuss my blood pressure and weight but as usual, no help, just here’s some pills!

My lifestyle has sucked a bit over the past few months as I haven’t had a solid base and have been away a lot and when I am at home, I’m not really at home as I’m out a lot. I really dislike where I live and need to move closer to my social life and work life.

I’m not walking as much either recently.

Chante (my dog) is fast approaching fifteen years old and she has really slowed down over the past few months and struggles to walk a long way these days. What would have taken 10 miles when she was younger now takes a miles and she stops running around and sniffing everything and walks by my side. 2 – 3 miles and she’s panting heavily. (breaks my heart).

So I’m not burning the calories.

Diet is working and I am losing weight slowly but also being unhappy doesn’t help but don’t know where to start with my thoughts on that at the moment!

The hormones aren’t helping with my weight gain, and from speaking to others in the same boat, they have had similar problems with weight gain.

I have an online meeting booked with my care provider in the next few weeks and one of the questions I’ve raised is my weight gain. Let’s see what they say.

No point asking my doctors as their only interested in prescribing pills and potions.
