The trans conversion ban bill is apparently now in its final stages and just waiting for a sign-off from the UK prime minister, Rishi Sunak.
His decision is going to be a defining moment for the prime minister. He will show his true colors, and either renege on the government’s promise to ban conversion therapy for transgender people, reject this ban because his views are such that a step forward in trans rights is a step too far in his own beliefs, or.ultimatrly he will sign this legislation.
Not signing the legislation because of his transphobic views is highly likely.
As I’ve said this is gonna be a defining moment as to whether or not the ban on trans conversion therapy actually gets written into law.
It’s now 5 years since Theresa May said that she would ban transgender conversion therapy.
Five years where the government has gathered, and written some long winded gulf about something which has been banned for gay people already!
I for one wait to see what happens as this should have been sorted a long time ago but I hold out little hope this will happen.

Ban on so-called ‘conversion therapy’ now ‘awaiting Prime Minister’s sign-off’
It would appear there is already a loophole in this legislation which would mean that “consenting adults” would still be subjected to this therapy and make those projecting the conversion therapy immune for prosecution. The term “consenting” is such a broad term and the likelyhood of proving coercion is low if it ever went to court.
